Congress MLA M. Vincent in Kerala held for rape of neighbor woman.

Prior to the arrest, the Kovalam MLA M. Vincent was questioned for more than two hours by a police team. 

Congress MLA M. Vincent was arrested by Kerala Police on July 22, 2017, a day subsequent to being accused of sexual harassment and stalking of a 51-year-old lady who endeavored suicide earlier this week. 

Prior to the arrest, Mr. Vincent, a first-time legislator, was questioned for more than two hours by a police team. He was later taken for further interrogation.

The police group landed at the MLA hostel in Thiruvananthapuram at around 12.30 p.m. and left after more than two hours of questioning. He later was moved to an undisclosed area for further interrogation and then arrested.

MLA Vincent has moved for anticipatory bail from a court in Thiruvananthapuram.

The victim’s husband had filed a complaint with the local police station near Thiruvananthapuram the MLA M. Vincent threatening and sexual harassing his wife over the phone and personal.


MLA Vincent, who represents Kovalam Assembly constituency near Thiruvananthapuram, said he is innocent in this case and claim he was a victim of political conspiracy.

The case surfaced after the lady tried to suicide by devouring over the top dosage of sleeping pills on July 19, 2017. She was hurried to a hospital in the city rural areas and was saved her life. 

The police have taken the statement of the victim before the arrest.

The lady told the media on July 22, 2017 that she has been confronting extreme mental badgering from the MLA Vincent and he has gotten out of hand with her on two distinct events. 

Senior ladies leaders in the Congress party M. Bindu Krishna and Shanimol Usman have asked Mr. Vincent to resign the MLA position and face the probe.
